Exercise is the KEY to a happy, cooperative, well-behaved canine, especially off-leash adventures. I can't believe how many people say to me "I can't take my dog off leash, he will run away." Dogs simply do not run away. Dogs are pack animals and will stick with their pack, unless you have a hound, who loves to search for rabbits. If you go exploring with them they will never want to go alone.
Get out of the computer chair and go on an adventure! There are tons of areas to go off-leash adventuring with your companion! Climb some rocks! Run through fields! Explore the woods! That's what dogs love to do! So get out and go swimming, digging, running, and climbing with your dog.
Remember, the quality of your dogs life depends on you and you alone. There is no such thing as an inside or outside dog, only a pack member who loves to be with you. You wouldn't believe the stares I get when I go to the park and start digging in the sand with my dog. Remember, never be embarrassed to be silly for your dog.
